Australia retain the Ashes after thrashing England to take 3-0 series lead

The debutant Scott Boland finished with astonishing figures of six wickets for seven runs as Australia retained the Ashes in spectacular style at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

England were blown away for 68, with Australia winning by an innings and 14 runs to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series.

The England captain Joe Root was again left alone on the burning deck. He made a fluent 28 before edging Boland to David Warner in the slips.
